This past summer, tens of thousands of Afghans were forced to flee their homes and have left everything behind. Twenty of those families have found shelter in Incheon.
While they received a small amount of funding from the government to find a house, it is not enough to furnish the home with necessary furniture and basic appliances. It is especially more difficult for individuals who are not used to sitting on the floor for meals or sleeping on the floor without a bed. Recently, one of the families joyfully welcomed a newborn into their family in Korea but were also heartbroken for not being able to purchase a crib and other necessities.
As a church, we have an opportunity to demonstrate Christ's
love and compassion as these families rebuild their lives in
Korea. We are asking if Gospel City would consider
sponsoring an Afghan family. This would begin by
raising financial support of approximately 5,000,000 KRW to
provide basic necessities (furniture, hygiene items, and
household items). Ongoing, this could include
providing cultural and community orientation, Korean/English
language support, providing job search advice & support,
etc.
**NOTE: Gospel City will be fundraising until March 20, 2022, but for those who would like to give ongoing support via Samaritan's Purse can do so through their website.
